Social Butterfly Designs

LOVE NOTES AND OTHER FUN STUFF

The Idea

Social Butterfly Designs is a boutique stationery business specializing in custom invitations, announcements, holiday cards and social stationery. With a passion for all things vintage and an appreciation for modern design and style, my cards and invitations appeal to a wide variety of eclectic tastes. It kind of all started when I used to design and make my own Christmas card every year and then went on to design my kids birth announcements, party invitations and the like. Friends responded with great encouragement to my designs and I naturally started creating invitations and birth announcements for a few friends and it just caught on from there.

Background

I grew up in Southern California and have lived here my entire life, including 4 years at USC. After college, I took a brief departure from the beach life to live in the mountains of Idaho with a one year stint in Sun Valley living as a "ski bum."  After my ski adventure ended and prior to owning my own business, I was the Public Relations Manager for Princess Cruises for nearly 14 years and had a chance to travel and see much of the world. That was all before marriage and family. I am a proud mom to three teens -- George, Helen and Audrey -- and married to my husband Paul --  and am truly blessed to have a great gig working from home, doing something I am passionate about and being my own boss.

100% Paper Passionate

As a young girl I remember spending the occasional Saturday at my dad’s office – none less than a paper manufacturing plant -- amidst paper, paper and more paper. I loved the smell, the feel, and all the possibilities that all that paper presented. I guess I’ve always just been mad about paper – from notebooks and notepads to stationery and invitations – I love it all. I used to spend a lot of time drawing in blank journals and doodling on notepaper.  Since its beginning in 2000, the Social Butterfly Designs line of products has grown from just a few cards to hundreds of designs and a mix of cool stuff and “favorite finds”.  I am so happy that today I am still surrounded by all things paper and it brings me great joy to create and design cards and invitations for my friends and clients on a daily basis.
